Prakash, headed the Risk Management Function at Escorts Finance Ltd (EFL) while I was there as the CEO and Managing Director. EFL did both retail lending (asset based financing for cars, commercial vehicles, and construction equipment) and Corporate cash flow lending to SMEs. Prakash not only provided inputs for the lending programs and risk acceptance criteria for the retail loan programs but his group did the analysis and risk recommendation for the SME loans. He was the final sign off on these loans, which was key to the company’s credit process. He also signed off on all the structured loan products. I not only valued his insights, but depended upon him for loan approvals and monitoring. He was a team player and blended well in Company culture. He left Escorts Finance for better prospects, and was big loss for the company and for me personally as he was one of the key member of my senior management team.
